.Maiden & Rerouting Voyages
Rerouted re-explorations of new and ongoing tools/concepts... wrapped, rewired, reshaped in familiar, personal and cozy domestic contexts...
Embodied, raw, yet tender studies/explorations of the practical...of the socio-human condition... and of daily tasks evolving into time based ritual.

Domesticated Navigation
Deeper routes of "Biographie of Service". Unchartered territories of home & hearth... time travel tools & "othered" items physically navigated in domesticity
Diving deeper into Pirate Jenny. Placing my form and exploring PJ's placement in 'Biographie' within the Home, while framed within an Artist intensive in upstate NY.
I unpacked basic tool making for PJ and figure modeling within House at an art residency at School of Making Thinking's Iteration Lab. Bringing folks through 'Biographie's' foundations of figure modeling and in pose self narrative centering on work/life/survival as Other - I made an intuitive move to guide the class as timekeeper/facilitator. Cuing poses, gestures and setting times, I unknowingly, yet powerfully embodied autonomy after years of working within teacher led class form.
Everyday for one hour, we presented works and inquiries in various iterations depending on space, feedback and concept. Being in a remote domestic setting afforded feelings of comfort and safety while work shopping 'Biographie', especially in house, moreover - kitchen table style. Class Sketches, doodles and writings were created and dialog for future potential was shared. PJ's tools were tried on and worn by others while speaking to their functional potential for time travel and wear. Setting PJ within a timed yet expansible structure of iteration opened many possibilities for myself and PJ within and beyond the layered seas of Hearth, Home & Kitchen Table...

...Hung
water based practicalities...soaked, wrung within memories, old sayings, solitary and collective traditions & elemental ritual.
A workshop outcome & site specific durational investigation rooted in a need for clean belongings - became a water based ritual resulting in cleansing and renewal. Using key elements from a 9 day intensive 'Time.Space.Nothing.' with artist Franko B, 'Hung' explored the the simple act of using water for washing items needed for personal care and everyday use. The element of Water was used to clean all of my cloth belongings in front of viewers, evoking thoughts and memories on old sayings, loaded meanings, political layers and handwashing fabrics. This act instinctively grew into a need to cleanse and renew my own body with the same element.

.Service is Cool
social inquiry into ideas of service, practicality & the conditioning of humans .
Created for Art In Odd Places (EmergeNYC intensive week edition), this work is a simple investigation of public engagement, street performance and social practice. It is an embodied study and nod to the concept of Service and to my shared experiences with my fellow artist colleagues on the front lines of the customer service industry. The simple task of handing out water to the passerby on a 95 degree day in New York City dressed in my Boi scout uniform exposed many personal and social layers; revealing insight on the perception of sexuality, race, class, gender and human conditioning.
