Venice International Performance Art Week (VIPAW)
Joint Workshop, Summer 2018
Open rehearsal and final performance as part of the educational and joint education workshop for Venice International Performance Art Week. In the framework of the Educational Learning Program of the Venice International Performance Art Week, Studio Contemporaneo; in collaboration with Live Arts Cultures presented the fifth of a series of practical workshops on performance art in Venice. The intensive was held as a joint performance summer class co-taught by VestAndPage and Andrigo&Aliprandi. 29 May to 7 June 2018, C32 performingartworkspace, Forte Marghera, Venice, Italy.
My intensive movement and performance study & physical and conceptual inquiry unfolded within a selected group setting of selected/invited performance artists, mostly EU based. The workshop excercises were an amazing platform to dive into form, psyche, body, group, collaboration and what it really meant to have my "othered form" working/connecting in proximity to forms so different, yet so connected in various experiences within race, gender and class. Time was spent not just in movement, but also revisiting my instrumental, vocal and ensemble roots, tuning into timing and sensitivities as a classically trained/traumatized musician. Material from this week was part of the "Perception of the Self" series by VestandPage .
